RefereesMost of us train to race. Whether we race to win, for enjoyment or just to test ourselves in a challenging situation - races are important. It is the duty of TI to ensure that races are held in as safe an environment as possible and that the rules of competition are adhered to. In order to do this we need a plentiful supply of race referees and technical delegates (TDs). The TD works with the race organiser before the event and will highlight potentially unsafe situations which may arise. They also offer advice regarding the race configuration, maximum numbers of participants, medical requirements etc. This work goes on behind the scenes so that you can simply turn up and race. The referee takes charge on race day to ensure that the competition rules are followed and that the agreed safety protocols are implemented. The next Referee training course is planned for early in 2010. Further information to follow. |
